Brooklyn Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Brooklyn, NYCourt Accompaniment and Witnessing training 9/17
Join us to learn how we stand with people who are pursuing legal immigration status while facing a hostile system. During Accompaniment, we join respondents (whom we call Friends) for their hearings and check-ins by appointment. Court Witnessing means going into courthouses as groups to meet people for the first time in waiting rooms. We give Friends useful information, help them with paperwork, stay present with them before, during, and after their hearings, and connect them with immediate and ongoing resources to help them fight deportation and detention.

Urban Justice Center in New York, NYPro Se Clinic training 9/21
Please note that Monday trainings are for those who have taken a training or have experience at the clinic. New volunteers should join a Wednesday training.
Be a part of the revolutionary effort to support people facing deportation with their paperwork as they navigate a hostile immigration system. “Pro se” means “for oneself” in Latin, and in legal parlance, it refers to people who are maneuvering legal proceedings without representation.
Immigration is a civil matter, not a criminal one, and as such, people facing deportation are not entitled to court-appointed lawyers.
Friends need teams right away. Join a team and make a real difference!
