Keeping families together and advocating against deportations

Faith Leaders Convening

In this moment of heightened crisis, our Friends who are in immigration proceedings are facing immense harm, confusion, and fear as they navigate the court system. This threat is about to escalate significantly as the administration prepares to launch "Super" Master Calendar Hearings in the near future.

These upcoming proceedings will function as mass, fast-tracked assembly lines designed to systematically deny basic due process. The explicit goal is to close people’s cases rapidly without a full, fair hearing, using aggressive tactics like pretermission (summarily dismissing an asylum claim before a person can even testify) to rush Friends toward immediate deportation or banishment to a third country.

As people of faith and conscience, we are called not just to witness this institutional cruelty, but to actively stand alongside our neighbors and disrupt this harm before it begins.

I invite you to join us for an urgent faith leaders convening to discuss how we can collectively push back and strengthen our network of accompaniment.

Our focus for this meeting will be on accompaniment, the critical practice of standing side-by-side with Friends as they face these hostile courtrooms. We will share updates on what these upcoming fast-tracked hearings will look like, map out immediate volunteer needs, and discuss how the faith community can leverage its unique moral voice and physical presence to counter this impending injustice.

Your leadership is vital as we organize our next steps.

Please reply to this email to let us know if you or a representative from your congregation will be able to attend.
