New Sanctuary Coalition runs a weekly clinic staffed by non-attorney volunteers and supervised by experienced immigrants rights organizers and immigration lawyers. You do not need prior experience to participate; we will train you. The clinic helps people identify ways to get relief from deportation and detention; access other immigration-related benefits; understand their rights so they can fight their own case; apply for asylum; prepare for court appearances or interviews; and much more.
We're seeing tremendous growth in the number of immigrants — the people we call “friends,” not clients — seeking help and we're looking for new volunteers. Join us for training, and we'll continue training you and supporting you as you help our friends at our weekly clinic.
This training is intended for new AND seasoned volunteers. We will go over important procedures at clinic, basics of asylum, change of venue, FOIA and work permits.
Clinic is on Tuesday evenings from 6-8:30 at NYU law school.
