Keeping families together and advocating against deportations

Asylum Application Training

We are excited to be holding a 589 training with Heather Axford from CALA (Central America Legal Assistance). She will cover the application from beginning to end and how to be strategic in these trying times. We strongly encourage all volunteers - new and experienced - to attend.

Clinic is on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 at NYU law school.

About the NSC Pro Se Clinic:

New Sanctuary Coalition runs a weekly clinic staffed by non-attorney volunteers and supervised by experienced immigrants rights organizers and immigration lawyers. You do not need prior experience to participate; we will train you. The clinic helps people identify ways to get relief from deportation and detention; access other immigration-related benefits; understand their rights so they can fight their own case; apply for asylum; prepare for court appearances or interviews; and much more.

In this training we'll just be focused on the asylum application itself. Join us for training, and we'll continue training you and supporting you as you help our friends at our weekly clinic.

We are also looking for volunteers during the day sometimes to help with emergency cases. If you're interested in helping with that, read more and tell us about yourself here. (Link will open in a new window)
